Today we are looking at 1 Corinthians 3.
Now keep in mind that Paul was writing to the church in Corinth. Corinth was a city known for its pagan culture with 2 huge temples built to Apollo and Aphrodite. He’s writing to a church that is struggling to understand how to be like Christ while living and being influenced by the society of Corinth.
Paul said that he had to talk to them like infants, giving them bottles of milk, not able to feed them solid food. They were immature. They hadn’t grown or matured. The world influence on them was too strong. They never moved from being told - don’t let the world around you influence you - to the more mature, how do I influence the world or culture. They were filled with pride, they worshipped human wisdom, they created factions in the church, one against the other, us against them.
As believers, we are still flesh and blood. The world, our enemy, tries to influence us every day. Internet, phones, co-workers, tv, and even our family at times. It is a continual battle. We forget that we are fighting for our very lives---for our eternity.
Do you think that sometimes, without realizing, we stay at the same level spiritually? Do we come to church week after week, month after month, year after year and never change, never grow, never mature? Are we satisfied with our relationship with God? Do we think, "okay, I got saved so I’m good" and never grow up spiritually? Do we love the world more than our Savior? Will we forever be an infant, a toddler, or heaven forbid, a teenager forever?
Today, let’s ask God to help us grow. I want to eat steak-not be on a bottle forever. Lets make the decision, right now, today to grow up and be more and more like Christ.
I have been struggling, I’m so easily distracted by worldly thing. I desire to grow and be more like Christ. So that when the time comes and the quality of my work is tested by fire🔥 it will please the Lord. Each new dwell message helps with the distractions of this world. Thank you
